Installing Lineage 2 Essence is straightforward, but the download is large. Most support requests come from people who started it at the wrong moment.
Here is the process and the pitfalls.
Before you start
- Disk space. The Essence client is a large download. Plan for tens of gigabytes, not a few. Check your free space first.
- A stable connection. The launcher supports pausing, but interrupted downloads are the number one cause of "corrupted file" errors.
- A desktop or laptop PC. Essence is a PC game. Mobile installs are a different client and not what you want.
The install, step by step
- Create your account on the official site first. You need the login to start the game anyway.
- Download the official launcher for your region from the game's own site. Not from a mirror, and not from a video description.
- Install the launcher somewhere with plenty of space, ideally on your fastest drive.
- Let the launcher download and verify the client. Do not close it mid-download.
- Launch the game, log in, create your character.
- Claim your new-player gift. On a new server like Mint, this includes the 3-star spellbook.
Common problems and fixes
